Overview And Design Considerations

Before building a Chuck Box, I think a person really needs to take some time to think about how big they want their box to be and what purpose it serves. I have seen some pretty huge boxes out there.... Do you really want a hernia getting this thing in your car or truck? Large items are a nightmare when you have to load them in and out of your vehicle and maneuver them around camp, also if we are boat camping the box will need to be carried up the beach. Designing something that is easy for one person to carry is a MAJOR part of my design plan.

This brings up the issue; What will this box be used for? Right mow my answer is: Just for transporting and organizing small to medium kitchen items and providing a place to work from in camp. Possibly providing some work surface as well.

Small Items:

Plasticware

Plates

Napkins

Cups

Knives

Tongs, Large spoon

Salt, pepper spices

Matches and lighter.

Hot Pad

Towels

Medium Size Items:

Saucepan

Coffee maker

frying pan

small lantern

Questionably Large:

2 burner stove

Gas for the stove

In my opinion a two burner stove is a bit too big and heavy to design a Chuck Box to hold. I carry it separately.
